Q. What is included in the hire packages?

A. All of our hire packages include everything you require except for the shirt. You can simply wear a white or black shirt that you own or you can purchase a new Victorian Wing collar shirt for £16 and ex-display shirts for only £7 (both are subject to availability). The only exception is the Jacobite outfit which does however come with a Ghillie shirt.

Q. When should I book my kilt for my event?

A. Booking early is a great idea! Moreover, the earlier you book, the larger selection of tartans you shall have to pick from. We offer last minute service of kilt hire from a great selection and volume of stock, subject to its availability for your day. Please get in touch if you have a special or late requirement.

Q. How long is the rental period?

A. For collection in-store the hire period is 2-3 days. For example, if you collect in-store on the Friday or Saturday after 2 pm the outfit is due back on Monday before 2 pm. If collecting mid-week the hire period is 2 days i.e. collection on Monday and the outfit is due back on Wednesday. Longer hire periods can be arranged at an additional cost.

If you would like to have your outfit delivered, we take into account that your outfit must be delivered in advance. If you select to have your outfit delivered on a Thursday, the collection will be on the Monday as our couriers do not work at weekends. A Friday delivery would also be collected on the Monday. If you select a mid-week hire the collection would be 48hrs after the delivery i.e. delivery on a Tuesday would therefore be collected on the Thursday. Longer hire periods can be arranged at an additional cost. 

Q. Can I cancel my order? 

A. Our cancellation period is 60 days. Any cancellations that take place 60 days or more BEFORE your collection/delivery will receive a refund of the rental amount MINUS the £20 deposit/restocking fee. If you cancel within 60 days of your collection/delivery no refund will be given.For the avoidance of doubt, if you cancel 60 days before you receive your order you will be entitled to the amount minus the £20 deposit/restocking fee however if you cancel 59 days before you receive your order, you will not be entitled to a refund and no exceptions can be made

Q. How does the delivery and pick up of the outfit work?

A. We want to offer you complete convenience so all we need from you is the delivery and pick-up address, this can be your house, work, hotel etc. We shall deliver your outfit on a guaranteed fully insured service and when you are done looking dashing in your kilt outfit, we shall send our reliable courier service to collect it.

Q. How do I measure myself for my kilt outfit?

A. Our website would lead you through the process as you fill in your details. But you can send us measurements to get your perfect kilt outfit with only 4 questions!

1. Height

2. Chest size: Measure just under the armpits. You do not need to measure tightly.

3. Waist size: Measure tightly around your waist at your bellybutton (pull the measuring tape as tight as you would while wearing a belt with no extra space for comfort)

4. Shoe size

Q. What age does our kilt hire start from?

A. The very youngest we can fit is roughly 11 months old babies. This does however depends on the size of the child.

Q. What is the quality of the outfits offered?

A. Here at A1 Kilt Hire we never cut corners. Our kilts are 8-yard heavyweight 100% wool and are handmade in Scotland by the very best kilt maker. Our high-quality made-to-measure jackets are also handcrafted in Scotland for the perfect fit. Our hire outfits include leather brogues and traditional dress sporrans.

Q. Is there a security deposit to pay?

A. We require a £20 deposit before you receive your order. The deposit will however be refunded when the outfits are returned on time and in good condition.

Q. What is the company's sustainability statement?

A. We’re proud to have drastically minimised our plastic use by 40%. We reuse all the paper into making delivery labels. All our outfits are handmade in Scotland from 100% natural wool. We also own all our outfits which reduces the carbon footprint of transporting them from one place to another. This also gives you the guarantee of receiving your outfit on time and in good shape. We are continuously striving each day to follow more sustainable practices. If our hire outfits are not up to the mark to be hired out to our customers, we add them to our ex-hire stock to give it a second home.
